Scared and Nervous…
Well I think I am going to sign up for my final class that I need to be a licensed minister in the Wesleyan Church. I have been putting it off for years because of the class that I need – Homiletics (How To Preach)! I know, I know, it can’t be that bad. But for someone who doesn’t enjoy speaking in front of people it just didn’t interest me. However, if I want to be a pastor and be able to better serve the church then I’m gonna bite the bullet and take this class. I am reading the book Communicating for a Change by Andy Stanley and it’s a really good book so far. I’ll let you know what I think of the whole book once I’m done with it. But I do see the benefit of a one point message and making sure everyone takes away that one point when they leave!
Hosanna In The Highest
My favorite worship song for the longest time now has been Hosanna by Hillsong United. I went with Trevor when he brought Lift and Ignite (Hub bands) to their conference in Toronto which as a side note was unbelievable. But singing that song especially there was the most moving experience of my life. It is such a powerful song that really gives you a sense of what it will be like worshipping when we are in heaven. Here is the music video but nothing is like singing it live with thousands of people.
Generosity…
Wow, Pastor Greg’s message yesterday was great. Especially in the economic craziness that we are in right now. Luke 16:9 – “I tell you, use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. In this way, your generosity stores up reward for you in heaven.” Being generous now will get us as believers way better eternal rewards than loving all of our earthly items now. Everything is God’s to use so let’s get being generous and look around ourselves for those in need.
Pressured…
Well I’ve been pressured into doing a blog by Kevin Beers. I’ll do my best to keep this updated. However, I can’t promise it will be philosophical or theological like some others you read! Ha!
